An issue is occurring that causes dealerships to be unable to print after they install Microsoft Update KB4524147 (released on October 3, 2019). Either the Spooler crashes or Autosoft printing stalls. Microsoft has not acknowledged any of these issues as of yet, but the amount of reports indicate that there is a problem with the update. Removing this update from an affected computer fixes printing capabilities.
Removing the update from Hosted servers solved the issue on the Hosted platform. If the dealership is not hosted, then the update needs to be removed from the workstation having the printing problem. This issue goes away once the update is uninstalled.
Note: The update could also possibly be KB4524148 or KB4524157, depending on the operating system.
To determine if the problematic update is installed on the machine and to uninstall it, complete the following steps.
- On your computer, open the Control Panel.
- Click Programs and Features > Installed Updates.
- If the problem update is installed, click on the program update and click Uninstall.
- When prompted, restart the computer.
