Setting up a Credit Card Device

Before you can use the payment process integration in your Autosoft DMS system, you need to set up the credit card device. Use the instructions below to set up the device. 

Step 1. Click Cashier on the Autosoft DMS main menu.

Step 2. Click Cash Receipts on the Cashier main menu.

Step 3. Click System Setup on the Cash Receipts menu.

Step 4. Click CC Setup on the bottom of the Cashier Parameters screen.

Step 5. The Credit Card Device Setup screen appears.

Step 6. Click Add Device. The Activate Device screen appears.

Step 7. In Name Your Device, type a name for the device. This will be used to differentiate the device from other devices when your dealership uses more than one device for credit card processing.

Step 8. Enter the activation code for the device in the Enter Activation Code field. (The activation code should display on the credit card reader screen.)

Step 9. Click OK. The DMS will connect to the credit card reader. This may take up to 30 seconds.  The Activate Device screen will close once connection is made. 

Step 10. The device displays in the Devices list on the right side of the Credit Card Device Setup screen.

Step 11. Click the device name in the Devices list.

Step 12. Use the Make This My Default Credit Card Reader box to set the selected device as the default device for this PC. This automatically defaults the payments to this credit card reader. If you don't set a default reader, you will select the reader you want to use when processing the payment. 

Step 13. Use the Print Authorization Codes boxes to select the documents on which the authorization codes should print.

Step 14. Click Exit to close the Credit Card Device Setup screen.

Step 15. Click Exit to close the Cashier Parameters screen.
