Creating the CSV General Import Folder and Saving a CSV File

Autosoft -

Follow these steps to create the folder where you will save CSV files for import to the Autosoft DMS. CSV files must be named "ASImport.csv" and saved in the ASImport folder on your C:\ drive (K:\ drive for users of Autosoft's hosted DMS) for the successful import of CSV files. When you attempt to import a CSV file, the DMS will look to this location for the appropriately named file. This process may differ based on the version of Microsoft Office installed in your dealership.

Step 1. When your Microsoft Excel document is ready to be saved, click the File tab in the upper-left corner of the Excel screen.

Step 2. Select Save As from the menu that appears.

Step 3. The Save As dialogue will open. To select the drive where the file must be saved, scroll through the drives in the left column of the dialogue and click to select Local Disk (C:) if your dealership's Autosoft DMS is based on an on-site server or (K:) if your dealership's Autosoft DMS is hosted.

Step 4. The selected drive opens. Right-click in the list of the folders and files saved in the drive. In the menu that opens, hover over New and click on Folder in the submenu that opens.

Step 5. The new folder is created in the drive and is labeled "New folder." Right-click on the folder and select Rename in the menu that opens.

Step 6. The current folder name will be selected. Type the new name: ASImport. Click off of the folder when you're done typing the new name.

Step 7. Double-click the new ASImport folder to open it.

Step 8. In the File name field, type ASImport.

Step 9. Click the Save as type field to open a menu of file types and click CSV (Comma deliminated).

Step 10. Click Save. The Save As dialogue closes, and the file is saved.
