Printing Current and Previous Year Comparison of Expense Accounts

Use the Print Expense Trend Analysis button on the Profit Center Reports menu to print a comparison between this year and last year for all expense accounts. For each expense account, the printout lists the average for the past 12 (active) months, the expense trend, and the totals for the current month. The end of the report lists the totals for all of the expense accounts. The trend is calculated using the following formula:

Step 1. From the Dealership Accounting main menu, select General Ledger. The General Ledger menu will open. 

Step 2. Select Profit Centers & Expense Analysis to open the Profit Center Reports menu. 

Step 3. Click Print Expense Trend Analysis on the Profit Center Reports menu.

Step 4. When prompted to verify your printer is ready, select To Printer to send the report to the printer, To Screen to view the report on screen, or Export to Excel to save a copy of the report for access in Microsoft Excel. 

Step 5. Click Print.

If you selected "Export to Excel," the system will alert you that the file has been created and saved as a CSV document, providing the file name and location of the Microsoft Excel document. The file will be named GLEXPENSETREND.CSV. If your dealership's Autosoft DMS is housed on an in-house server, the file will be saved to your C:\ drive. If your dealership operates on a hosted Autosoft DMS, the file will be saved to your K:\ drive. Click OK to dismiss the message.

Note:  For step-by-step directions on opening a .csv file in Excel, see the Knowledge Base article, "Troubleshooting: Opening .CSV Files in the Windows 10 Operating System." It may be necessary to format columns containing dollar amounts to accurately reflect correct decimal placement.
