Some Autosoft DMS users who are operating on Windows 10 have trouble opening reports they've exported to Microsoft Excel if the report is saved in the .CSV format. When they attempt to open a .CSV file with Excel, Windows returns an error message stating, "The Operating System does not have permission to complete this action."
To address this issue, you must instruct Windows 10 to use Microsoft Excel when opening .CSV files. To do this, follow these steps:
Step 1. Click the Windows Start button in the lower-left corner of your monitor's toolbar.
Step 2. Select System.
Step 3. Click Default Apps.
Step 4. Select Default Apps by File Type.
Step 5. Scroll through the file type list to find .CSV. Click Choose a Default to the right of .CSV.
Step 6. A list of recommended installed apps will open. If Microsoft Excel is in the list, select it.
If Excel is not in the list, you will need to select the spreadsheet program that is installed on your machine or select Notepad.
Step 7. Exit Settings and retry opening the report.
